PlayerFramework in Windows 8 N

Hello,

In Windows 8 N / KN (The one without the media player) we get this error when we try to play a smooth streaming video:

Requested Windows Runtime type 'Windows.Media.MediaExtensionManager' is not registered.

The solution seems to install the "Media Feature Pack", is that right?

Is there any other option which we can do automatically from the application to not force the user to do it manually?

Best,

Jose

Thanks Jose for reporting this. Unfortunately, users must download the media feature pack when using Windows 8 N/KN in order for playback to work. So... rather than make everyone implement their own version of this check, we went ahead and added an automatic detection and prompt to download the media feature pack to the next version of the player framework.
