Show The player controls from code.

When playing adverts, I cannot access the player controls due to click thru Uri's in our vast calls, as soon as I touch the player it launches IE.

To get round this I have added an invisible border with a button in it which will handle the click through behaviour.

The rest of the border surface is available for User Tap to show player controls, allowing the user to toggle full screen while ads are playing.

However I cannot find anyway to programmatically show the player controls!?  Seems like a daft question, but How can I do this?

I have tried setting the ControlPanel visibility to Visible, but that has no effect.  I have looked through the object model and can't find a ShowControls method any where: What am I missing?

If you set IsInteractive = true, it will invoke the controlpanel. Note: it is still subject to autohide kicking in if this is enabled.

But, another route is to style the ad player via Xaml. Here's another thread on the subject (written for WP8 but same principal applies).
